Anna’s PhD research focuses on sociophonetic variation in the variety of Aboriginal English spoken in Sydney, Australia. More specifically, she is investigating the interactions between speech style and prosodic features such as pitch movement, speech rhythm and phonation type in the Aboriginal English produced on Sydney radio shows. Her broader research interests include experimental and theoretical phonetics, sociolinguistics and endangered languages. She is particularly interested in the prosodic characteristics of British and postcolonial varieties of English, Australian Aboriginal languages and Danish.
