About me:
I received my B.A. in Italian Studies in 2008 from the University of Bologna, where, after an Erasmus period of study at the University of Birmingham, I also completed a MA in the same subject in 2011. Following a few years of job experience in diverse cultural sectors, such as at the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea of Rome or at the Italian Embassy in Washington, DC. (MAE CRUI 2011/2012), in 2013 I started a PhD at the University of Cambridge, where I'm still carrying forth a deeply interdisciplinary project under the supervision of Dr Pierpaolo Antonello, focusing on the mutual relationship between literature, science, and psychoanalysis. I’m generously founded both by a Keith Sykes studentship in Italian Studies, Pembroke College, and a AHRC doctoral award.
My research:
My research focuses on the intertwining of psychoanalysis and medicine in the work by Valerio Magrelli, with the purpose, on the one hand, to offer a totally new interpretation of an author widely recognized as the most influential in the Italian literary scenario of the present. On the other hand, to deepen the understanding of the new epistemological role which medical science and technology have been playing over the last decades, not only by becoming a ever-pervasive element in contemporary society and popular culture, but also an unavoidable point of reference in the creative practices both of literature and visual arts.
