Andy Martin teaches papers from 1789 onwards. He is currently completing a book,
Loser Wins: Sartre vs Camus, to be published in 2012 by Simon and Schuster. His most recent philosophy-related articles are for the New York Times 'The Stone' column,
'Beyond Understanding' and
'The Phenomenology of Ugly' . He has also written
a 'defence of the humanities' for The Independent. The author of
Waiting for Bardot (Faber),
Napoleon the Novelist (Polity) and
The Knowledge of Ignorance (CUP), he was a 2009-10 Fellow of the Cullman Center for Scholars and Writers, New York.
