Victoria Best specialises in twentieth-century French literature, women writers, critical
theory (particularly psychoanalysis), issues of identity and narrative. She is the author of
Critical Subjectivities: Identity and narrative in the work of Colette and Marguerite Duras
(Peter Lang, 2000); and
An introduction to Twentieth Century French Literature (Duckworth,
2002). She is currently working on a book about aspects of fantasy and dream in modern French
literature.
