German Oral C

Please see the Faculty page for general guidance about all aspects of the final year oral examination.

The examination takes place at the end of September or the beginning of October. Candidates are issued with a list of topics before they leave Cambridge for the Year Abroad, during which they should prepare one of them. The current list of topics is as follows:

  • Deutsch: eine Sprache im Wandel oder im Zerfall?
  • Die Bundesrepublik heute - auf dem Weg der Normalisierung?
  • Der Roman als literarische Gattung.
  • Kann man Kultur untersuchen, ohne den sozialen Aspekt einzubeziehen?

Important notice from the MML Faculty Board: The Faculty Board of Modern and Medieval Languages give notice that candidates for the oral examinations in Part II of the Modern and Medieval Languages Tripos which will be held in Michaelmas Term 2005, forming part of the examination for Part II in 2006, will be permitted to choose an oral topic of their own, if they do not wish to choose from one of the four topics previously published (i.e. as listed above). Candidates will NOT be required to submit the topic in advance of the examination. The Board are satisfied that no student's preparation for the examination will be adversely affected.
