The Faculty of Modern & Medieval Languages are holding a virtual Graduate Studies Open Day on the afternoon of 19th October 2005. The Forum will be open from 2.00 - 5.00 pm GMT.
We are a large but closely-knit multi-departmental Faculty, with teaching and research in Dutch, French, Occitan, German, Italian, Modern Greek, Neo-Latin, Russian, Spanish, Catalan, Portuguese and Linguistics, and across many different disciplines (from Medieval Studies to Film Studies). We welcome applications from graduate students who wish to embark upon a one-year M.Phil (in 'European Literature and Culture', Linguistics, Russian Studies, or in 'Screen & Media Culture'), or a Ph.D programme.
This informal forum is being held to give an opportunity to overseas applicants, particularly, to discuss possible research opportunities in Modern and Medieval Languages in Cambridge, and ask any questions about the courses you are interested in. Dr Chris Ward (Secretary of the Degree Committee), Dr Emma Wilson (Head of Department of French and a convenor of the M.Phil in Screen & Media Cultures), Dr Kasia Jaszczolt (Director of the M.Phil in Linguistics), Dr Nick Hammond (Director of the M.Phil in European Literature & Culture) and Professor Simon Franklin (Convenor of the M.Phil in Russian Studies) will be available to answer your questions.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact the Graduate Administrator, Siobhán Carew - tel: 00 44 1223 335044).
A transcript of questions put at the 2004 Forum is available here: Graduate Open Day Forum 2004
