Faculty Library

Welcome to the Faculty Library

The Modern and Medieval Languages Library supports teaching and learning in European languages, literatures and cultures and in linguistics. The Library holds over 112,000 books and 3,400 films as well as European magazines and newspapers, e-books, e-journals and a small selection of scholarly print journals. MML undergraduates and MPhil students should find all the material they need for their studies in these collections.

The Library also includes a German research collection, the Beit Library.


Opening hours

Term time opening hours:

Monday - Friday: 9.00-19.00

Saturday: 11.00-16.00.

Sunday: Closed.


Doors are locked 15 minutes before closing time and no more readers are admitted.

UX studies

This week, we'll be doing some user experience studies in the MML Library, including observing how our readers use the Library space. Ask us about it! And just let us if you don't want to be involved in this.

We're open again!

We're open for business again as of 9am today. Opening hours this week are Monday to Friday 9-5, term-time hours including Saturday openings resume on Monday 11 January. Happy New Year to all our users!
