Welcome to the Faculty Library

The Modern and Medieval Languages Library supports teaching and learning in European languages, literatures and cultures and in linguistics. The Library holds over 112,000 books and 3,000 films as well as European magazines and newspapers, scholarly journals, e-books and e-journals. MML undergraduates and MPhil students should find all the material they need for their studies in these collections.

The Library also includes a German research collection, the Beit Library.

Opening hours

Full Term: Monday - Friday 09.00 - 19.00 ; Saturday 11.00 - 16.00

Vacation: Monday - Friday 09.00 - 17.00 ; Saturday: closed

Doors are locked 15 minutes before closing time and no more readers are admitted.

Vacation Borrowing

Vacation borrowing begins on Monday 9th March . The library is open 9 am - 7 pm during the last week of term, and is closed on Saturday 14th March. Vacation opening hours begin on Monday 16th March. Library Computer System Shut Down on January 25th

The University Library will be shutting down its computer systems for essential maintenance on Sunday, January 25th at 6.00 am. This means there will be no access to the LibrarySearch online catalogue, the Cambridge Libraries Directory or the Libraries Gateway. Service should be restored at 17.00.
