Welcome to the Faculty Library

The Modern and Medieval Languages Library supports teaching and learning in European languages, literatures and cultures and in linguistics. The Library holds over 112,000 books and 3,000 films as well as European magazines and newspapers, scholarly journals, e-books and e-journals. MML undergraduates and MPhil students should find all the material they need for their studies in these collections.

The Library also includes a German research collection, the Beit Library.

Opening hours

Easter Term: Monday - Friday 09.00 - 19.00 ; Saturday 11.00 - 16.00; closed Sunday

Doors are locked 15 minutes before closing time and no more readers are admitted.

Closed for Easter April 3-6th

The MML Library will close for Easter at 5 pm on Thursday, April 2nd and re-open on Tuesday, April 7th at 9 am. Doors are locked 15 minutes before closing and no readers are admitted. Library Systems Unavailable March 14-15th

All library computer systems will be shut down for essential maintenance work from 7.00 on March 14 until about 20.00 on March 15th. This includes LibrarySearch, e-books, e-resources, online renewals, My Library Account and other online services.

Vacation Borrowing

Vacation borrowing begins on Monday 9 March. The library is open 9 am - 7 pm during the last week of term, and is closed on Saturday 14 March . Vacation opening hours begin on Monday 16 March. Vacation loans will be due back on Thursday 23 April. Recalls are turned off during this period. Term-time loans cannot be renewed...
