Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics

Hispanic / Lusophone / Catalan librarian wanted

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and motivated user-focused person to join our dedicated, friendly and professional Library team. You will be responsible for the Hispanic, Lusophone and Catalan collections in the Library and liaise with the Spanish and Portuguese Department to provide Library support for the courses run by the Faculty. Knowledge of Spanish and/or Portuguese is essential for this post; the Faculty currently teaches Spanish, Portuguese and Catalan, as well as the literatures and cultures associated with these languages, including Latin American literatures and cultures.

You should have an adaptable approach to customer service and will be expected to contribute to the smooth running of the Library service. Reporting directly to the Teaching and Learning Support Librarian in the MML Library, you will be involved in supporting the undergraduate and MPhil community in the MML Faculty; we are especially keen to find someone who will be enthusiastic about helping us deliver our information literacy programme.

Additionally, you will have a central role in gathering and reporting on library service performance in order to better support and enhance current user experience. In particular, you will be fully involved in the Library's support of the Faculty using Moodle, the University's VLE.

The role holder will also be responsible for some financial work for the Library, and occasionally for other libraries in the School of Arts and Humanities.

To be considered for this role, you should demonstrate an adaptable and flexible approach to delivering library services/customer services, with a creative and innovative approach to problem-solving. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential and you should enjoy working in a small, friendly team. Excellent IT skills are also essential for this post; an enquiring mind with respect to technical developments will be an advantage. Due to the financial work required of the post holder, you will also have a demonstrable knowledge of basic numeracy.
