The University of Cambridge has launched a new joint undergraduate degree course for 2017 in History and Modern Languages, which will be jointly offered by the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and the Faculty of History.

The History and Modern Languages course provides insight into the cultures of other countries, and understanding of the past and present in international contexts. This exciting new four-year Honours degree encompasses intensive study in language, culture, film, as well as a wide variety of British, European and world history. Like other language students, you spend the third year abroad – studying or working in a foreign country, and immersing yourself in the language, culture and history. History courses allow you to develop critical skills in analysis, research, presentation, and writing.

Our dedicated website for this course is now live. Take a look around it to find out more about what the course entails, its structure, and career information for future History and Modern Languages graduates.

We are pleased that the launch of our new course has been making a splash this week, with both the University and the School of Arts and Humanities talking about it. We look forward to welcoming students to this degree programme in 2017!
