Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics

Slavonic & Linguistics librarian post

Applications now closed.

We also have another exciting opportunity to join our MML Library team: we're looking for an enthusiastic and motivated user-focused person to join our dedicated and friendly Library team. You will be responsible for the Slavonic and Linguistics collections and provide support for the Slavonic and Linguistics courses within the Faculty. Knowledge of Slavonic languages is essential for this post; the Faculty currently teaches courses on Russian, Ukrainian and Polish, as well as the literatures and cultures associated with these languages.

You should have an adaptable approach to customer service and will be expected to contribute to the smooth running of the Library service. Reporting directly to the Research Support Librarian in the MML Library, you will be involved in supporting the graduate and research community in the MML Faculty.

Additionally, you will have a central role in gathering and reporting on library service performance in order to better support and enhance current user experience. In particular, we are looking for someone who will be sympathetic towards, and excited about, the possibilities of using ethnographic research techniques as a means of gathering information to enhance the user experience (UX).

To be considered for this role, you should demonstrate an adaptable and flexible approach to delivering library services/customer services. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential and you should enjoy working in small, friendly team. Excellent IT skills are also essential for this post; an enquiring mind with respect to technical developments will be an advantage.

You will ideally work full time (36.5 hours per week) during University term; working hours outside of University term are subject to negotiation.
