About: 

Professor Kasia Jaszczolt, D.Phil. (Oxon), PhD (Cantab), MAE, joined the University of Cambridge in 1995, first as Assistant Lecturer, then Lecturer, Reader, and since 2010 Professor of Linguistics and Philosophy of Language. She has also taught at the universities of Oxford, Brighton and Sussex. Her research interests combine semantics, pragmatics, and philosophy of language and include such research areas as the semantics/pragmatics interface, ambiguity and underspecification, defaults and conventions in discourse, the semantics and metaphysics of time, propositional attitude constructions, and indexicality. She is the author of a theory of discourse interpretation called Default Semantics.

Kasia is managing editor of book series Oxford Studies of Time in Language and Thought (Oxford University Press), former managing editor of Current Research in the Semantics/Pragmatics Interface (CRiSPI, Elsevier, 1996-2008), and member of numerous editorial boards including Journal of Pragmatics and Intercultural Pragmatics. In 2012 she was elected Member of Academia Europaea and in 2015 Alumnus VIP, University of Łódź. She is Professorial Fellow of Newnham College. She is currently collaborating on a project Rethinking and Communicating Time with Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
