“Memorial” is a network of independent research institutes and NGOs operating throughout Russia. Their work focuses on the history of political repression under Soviet rule and memory culture.  The present project is a collaboration with the “History of Dissent in the USSR" programme, curated by “Memorial” Moscow and led by Gennady Kuzovkin.

The “Project for the Study of Dissidence and Samizdat” at the University of Toronto, Canada, has created an invaluable resource for researchers by digitising samizdat journals held in various archives throughout the world. It is headed by Ann Komaromi.
