About:

Anna began teaching Russian at the Slavonic Studies Section in 2009. Since then she has taught all Russian language skills at all levels, mainly at the Slavonic Studies Section and at CU Language Centre. Anna has a wide range of interests and expertise in the area of language and linguistics. She holds an MPhil and PhD in Linguistics from the University of Cambridge. Her PhD thesis was concerned with the role of the syntactic representation of a sentence in a cognitively valid theory of meaning. It involved a contrastive empirical study of communicative and interpretative strategies used by speakers of Russian and English. Before focusing on Russian language teaching, Anna was also teaching English language and various linguistic disciplines in higher education settings. Anna is also a qualified translator with translating experience in the areas of medicine and humanities.
