Dr Lucia Ruprecht

College Lecturer

Lucia Ruprecht is researching and teaching across film, dance, and literature since 1800, from both Germanic and comparative perspectives. She is particularly interested in questions of the performing body and has followed these up in her work on charisma and virtuosity which included essays on the reception of Swiss writer Robert Walser in film, especially in the Quay Brother’s Institute Benjamenta. Her book Gestural Imaginaries: Dance and Cultural Theory in the Early Twentieth Century (OUP, 2019) includes a chapter on film theorist Béla Balázs.
