From Kornaros to Kazantzakis: Language, Culture, Society, and History in Crete

From Kornaros to KazantzakisLanguage, Culture, Society, and History in Crete

Selwyn College, Cambridge

30th June & 1st July 2014

Conference organised in honour of Prof. David Holton

Prof. Holton's longstanding contribution to Modern Greek Studies has significantly helped to establish and shape the discipline not only in the UK but internationally. He is well known for his research not only on the literature of Renaissance Crete and the grammar of Medieval and Modern Greek but also on a multitude of aspects of Modern Greek literature. However, a large part of his work has been centred on or around Crete: his work on Erotokritos and other aspects of Cretan literature and culture have become points of reference for researchers.
