Using the MMLL Library

Registration and borrowing rights

All current members of the University are automatically registered to borrow, including staff, affiliated staff, undergraduates, postgraduates and affiliated students.

Academic visitors attached to a College or to another University department may register to borrow. They will need a letter of introduction from the department or the College that is hosting them.

Find out more about borrowing.

Access for visitors

Members of the public, Cambridge alumni and students from other universities can use the MMLL Library for reference throughout the year.

See our Contact us page for directions.

Electronic Legal Deposit computer

Our Electronic Legal Deposit computer is located on the second floor of the MMLL Library; please note it may not be easily accessible for anyone with mobility issues. Please ask us at the desk and we can provide help appropriately. We regret it is not currently possible to print from it, although we hope to resume enabling printing soon.

Remaining COVID mitigation measures

Most COVID-related restrictions have now been lifted and normal opening hours are back; we are glad to be welcoming you back in the physical library space after such a disrupted couple of years! Please check our Opening hours page for the current opening times.

Masks are no longer mandatory but feel free to continue to wear one if you wish. There is plenty of hand gel available throughout the library.

Please note that as part of our ongoing COVID mitigation measures, some windows are kept open to ensure adequate ventilation. Please bring a warm jumper as the temperatures drop, and please feel free to use one of the library's fleece blankets when working in the library.
