Research:

Analysing Herta Müller’s literary works, critical essays, and interviews, I show how language is conceptualised metaphorically. I argue that in her writing and speech, Müller uses categories of sensory perception and motor activity to reason about the more abstract concept of language.

‘Metaphorical conceptualization of injurious and injured language in Herta Müller’, Modern Language Review, 111:4 (2016): 1068-1084.
