My PhD dissertation, entitled "The World of the Child: Holism and Education in Spain, 1918-1936"  examines the relationship between scientific critique and child development in pre-Civil War Spain. Analysing the production of intellectuals, scientists, and teachers during Spain's pre-war period, it considers cultural receptions and adaptations of psychological and biological theories related to perception, memory, intelligence, play, and holistic abilities. Considering Spain as critically engaged with the transnational 'century of the child', it asks what role education reform held in Spain’s early twentieth century modernisation.
