Erasmus

Erasmus is the European Union's flagship educational exchange programme for Higher Education students, teachers and institutions. It was introduced with the aim of increasing student mobility within Europe.

Brexit does not affect students currently studying in the EU, current beneficiaries of Erasmus funding, or those applying for Erasmus funding in 2017-18. With regard to the 2018-19 Year Abroad, the UK government has confirmed it will underwrite grant agreements for Erasmus that were signed while the UK is still a Member State, even if payments continue beyond the point of the UK’s exit date. Those of you applying to Erasmus in the 2018 round may therefore prepare as usual for participation. Given that negotiations are still developing, however, please note that Year Abroad arrangements for 2018-19 may be affected, including arrangements for Erasmus.  The UK's future access to the Erasmus programme will be determined as part of wider discussions with the EU. The Faculty will keep the situation under review and this web page will be updated as and when new information is released.
