Professor Kasia Jaszczolt holds a D.Phil. in Linguistics and Philosophy from the University of Oxford. She joined the University of Cambridge in 1995, first as Assistant Lecturer, then Lecturer, Reader, and since 2010 Professor of Linguistics and Philosophy of Language. Kasia Jaszczolt's research interests include the representation of discourse, semantic ambiguities, semantics/pragmatics interface, saying/implicating distinction, semantic representation of time and propositional attitude constructions, including attitudes de se. She is the author of a theory of discourse interpretation called Default Semantics. Her books include: : Meaning in Linguistic Interaction: Semantics, Metasemantics, Philosophy of Language (2016, Oxford University Press); Representing Time: an Essay on Temporality as Modality (2009, Oxford University Press); Default Semantics: Foundations of a Compositional Theory of Acts of Communication (2005, Oxford University Press); Semantics and Pragmatics: Meaning in Language and Discourse (2002, Longman); Discourse, Beliefs and Intentions: Semantic Defaults and Propositional Attitude Ascription (1999, Elsevier Science), and several edited collections including: Time: Language, Cognition, and Reality (2013, Oxford University Press); The Cambridge Handbook of Pragmatics (2012, Cambridge University Press); Salient Meanings (2011, Mouton de Gruyter); Meaning through Language Contrast (2 volumes, 2003, J. Benjamins); Pragmatics of Propositional Attitude Reports (2000, Elsevier Science); Contrastive Semantics and Pragmatics (2 volumes, 1996, Elsevier Science). She is managing editor of book series Oxford Studies of Time in Language and Thought (Oxford University Press) and Current Research in the Semantics/Pragmatics Interface (CRiSPI, Elsevier, 1996-2008), member of numerous editorial boards including Journal of Pragmatics, Intercultural Pragmatics, book series Studies in Pragmatics.
